“Temporal perspective + Certainty” is what they call it in the research.
In plain English: If I tell you I’ve peeked into the future and found FOR CERTAIN that your project failed, you’re more likely to come up with the reason why.
That’s what a premortem is all about. You imagine that you know FOR CERTAIN that your project failed. You list the reasons why it failed. And you use that knowledge of “the future” to change your project plan in the present.
